Award to Rozon

On Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Annual Valentine Dance at the Disabled American Veteran Hall in Port St. Lucie a floral arrangement and gift certificate was presented to Nancy Rozon as a recognition for her dedication and generous support to the club.  The recognition was presented to Nancy by Al and Virginia Feliciano. Congratulations to Nancy for your continued collaboration to the club.

Award to Santa

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Anniversary Dinner Dance at the Disabled American Veteran Hall in Port St. Lucie a gift certificate was presented to Herman Santa as a recognition for his dedication and generous support to the club.  The recognition was presented to Herman by the president of the club Carlos Bonet. Award to Bryson

On Saturday, November 27, 2016, at the Thanksgiving Dance at the Disabled American Veteran Hall in Port St. Lucie a gift certificate was presented to Ron Bryson as a recognition for his dedication and generous support to the club.  The recognition was presented to Ron by the president of the club Carlos Bonet. Thanks Ron for your support and dedication to our club.

Valentine 2016

The Spanish American Club, Inc. celebrates Valentine

On Feb. 27, The Spanish American Club, Inc. “SACI” celebrates Valentine at the Disabled American Veterans “DAV” hall in Port St. Lucie.  The event started at 7:00 P.M. with guest speakers John Romano  CEO, and Pat Austin, Vice chair of New Horizons of The Treasure Coast and Okeechobee. The purpose of their presentation was to help the Hispanic population of the Treasure Coast learn about services available to them and their family members in the area of mental health and substance abuse.

During a break, an appreciation recognition was presented to Nancy Rozon for her generous support to the club. After the presentation to Nancy, D. J. José Ramírez played a birthday song to celebrated the birthdays of Al Feliciano, Maria Quiles, Nancy Rozon, Martha González, Lily Cruz, Sonia Hernandez, Virginia González, Catalina Ruiz, Hector Gil, Ivan Guanill and Robert Lasalle.  There were door prizes and 50/50 raffles to top off the event. 50/50 winners were: Elizabeth Bonet and José Mejia. Flower arrangement winner was Hector Gil. Door prize winners were: Nora Domenech, Karen Diamond, Cecilia Pulido, Millie Asencio and Xiomara Guanill.

SACI, a nonprofit membership organization from Martin and St. Lucie counties. SACI is the oldest social, civic, benevolence and sport organization on the Treasure Coast. The mission of the club is to promote friendship and solidarity among its members, neighbors and other non profit institutions of the Treasure Coast through cultural, social and civic activities and to promote the knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries, their geography, history, art and folklore.  Members and their guests enjoyed an evening of good camaraderie, snacks and of course, dancing with the rhythm of D.J. José Ramírez’s sound. Many thanks to the board for planning and those members that helped with the decoration and the set ups.  The next event has been scheduled for Saturday, March 26, to celebrate Mardi Gras at the same location.  For information about our next dance, please contact our president of the club, Carlos Bonet, at c.bonet@aol.com. Bowling 2016

Do you like bowling?

Can you be a team player and willing to practice once a week or once in a while?

If you are a member of the Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) and answer yes to these questions, I would like to hear from you!

We practice once a week on Mondays at the St. Lucie Lanes, Port St. Lucie. We start at 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., which will give us enough time to play three games for $850 and 10 minutes practice before the games. The practices are voluntarily.   If you like bowling and would like to make new friends, come and join us and have fun with us. Bowling Tournament to benefit scholarship

Members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. and their friends will celebrate a Bowling Tournament this year at the St Lucie Lanes, Port St. Lucie to raise funds for the scholarship of the club.  The event will schedule for the Fall on a Monday night (Date, time and fee not availabel yet).   It will be a night of strikes, splits and sleepers for the first place for male and female.

On Saturday, Saturday, January 5 , 2013, Vivi Pouriet and Angelo Cordova from Medical Consultant of Palm Beach were the guest speakers of the Winter Dance at the Spanish American Club, Inc. at the Disabled American Veterans club in Port St. Lucie West.  Thanks to Willie González made the arrangements for them to come to our party.

Sponsor’s Night 2015 at Elks Lodge # 26548

The Scholarship Committee of The Spanish American Club, Inc. hosted a Scholarship Night Dinner Dance on Saturday, July 11 at the Elks Lodge in Port St. Lucie.

The fund raiser was a great success thanks to many members, their guests, donors and local merchants for the benefit of local Hispanic students.  More than $2,000 was raised through ticket sales and silent auction donations.

A big Thank You to Arlene Dailey from the Elks Lodge # 26548.

Carly’s Annual Royal Party

On Saturday, October 3, 2014, some members of the Spanish American Club, Inc. dined and danced at the “Annual Royal Party” at the Elk’s Club in Port St. Lucie.

After the dinner the members enjoyed a hat parade and a performance of local artist of flamenco, gypsy and belly dancers.  Among them were Belly and Flamenco dancers. Among them, Lidia Sotomayor (Gypsy) and Roberta Linares (flamenco).

The elegant hat competition was coordinated by Carly Wehrly.  After the show the guests danced with the music of D.J. José Ramírez until 11 P.M.  The food was delicious, the show and the dancers were great.  Proceed of the party went to the “Jesus Birthday Party” in December.

Scholarship Committee 2016

Spanish American Club scholarship available to Martin and St. Lucie counties

The Spanish American Club, Inc. (SACI) scholarship is available to graduating seniors who live in Martin and St. Lucie counties.  The scholarship is administered by the Spanish American club, Inc. Scholarship Committee.

This year new board of directors are: Carlos Bonet, President; Nancy Rozon, Vice President; Al Feliciano, Secretary; Ruben Aleman, Treasurer; Ray Guadalupe, Public Relations; Luis Carrillo, Director and Melissa Sanchez, Substitute.

The scholarship committee are: Nancy Rozon; Director, Herman Santa and Melissa Sanchez and Fe Vall de Ruten, Co-Chairs.  The SACI scholarship was established in 1994 for low-income Hispanic students.  More than $22,000 has been awarded to local students.   Thirty-six high school seniors from Martin and St. Lucie counties have benefited from the scholarships.

The scholarships are awarded based on career interest academic achievement, financial need and other criteria.  Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA).  Letters of recommendation are accepted. Two students will be selected ($1,000 each) after one-on-one interview by the Spanish American Club, Inc. Scholarship Committee.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements for consideration: (1) Martin or St. Lucie county senior.  (2) Resident of either county. (3) Copy of the original transcript from the high school and (4) the student must read, write and speak Spanish.
